Richard Wang & Co.¡¯s Beijing Office was set up in January 2000, upon the approval of the Beijing Justice Bureau. It is the first office set up in Beijing by a Shanghai law firm.
The Beijing Office has over 10 partners, lawyers and paralegals, half of whom hold at least a masters degree in law. Some of the lawyers in the Beijing Office are former judges with rich trial experience, while others have studied and worked abroad. The lawyers in the Beijing Office specialize in legal areas such as foreign investment, international finance, international trade and commerce, intellectual property, and corporate law and dispute resolution, and are especially experienced in foreign-related litigation and arbitration, anti-dumping, anti-subsidy, other WTO-related areas, acting as general legal advisors and participating in large foreign investment projects.
To adapt to new demands on lawyers and increased anti-dumping legal issues after China¡¯s entry into the WTO, the Beijing Office has created an anti-dumping department, the only such organization sponsored by a law firm to focus on WTO-related legal issues, analyzing countermeasures, and handling anti-dumping claims and counter-claims. The lawyers in this department, by virtue of their elite professionalism and performance, has been entrusted by the relevant government agencies to participate in the drafting and revision of several laws, including the Regulation on Anti-Dumping of the PRC, the Regulation on Anti-Subsidy of the PRC and the Regulation on Protective Measures of the PRC. In addition, the lawyers of the anti-dumping department have been invited as legal experts by the investigating organizations in many anti-dumping and protective measures cases, and participated in the decision-making of such cases. Moreover, the lawyers of the anti-dumping department have compiled and written several books, including ¡°Introduction to the Anti-Dumping Legal System¡±, published in September 2001 and ¡°Questions and Answers on Anti-Dumping/Anti-Subsidy/Protective Measures of the PRC¡±, published in April 2002.
The Beijing Office is equipped with modern communication and computer facilities, allowing the Beijing Office to cooperate closely with the Shanghai Office, the Tianjin Office and the New York Office, so that the collective wisdom and expertise of the 40 lawyers and consultants of Richard Wang & Co. can be shared.
The Beijing Office, closely adhering to international standards of professionalism and professional ethics, exerts its best efforts to offer high quality, efficient legal services to domestic and overseas clients.
